The famous Basilica of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona was an initiative of the Association of the Devotees of St. Joseph. Not far from the Vatican is the Basilica of San Giuseppe al Trionfale. This church was the initiative of St. Luigi Guanella in honor of the patron saint of the Good Death. He founded the Pious Union of the Transitus of St. Joseph, a large association of support and prayer for the dying.

In Latin America, as in the Philippines, the devotion to St. Joseph spread among the population after the arrival of the Spanish missionaries in the 16th century. A rich iconography and joyful popular celebrations bear witness to this.
